Protect Your Smile

Guard Those Teeth!

Dental injuries from sports are very common. In fact, more dental injuries have been reported from soccer than any other sport. Why? Perhaps it’s because mouthguards are not required. Given that the cost of replacing a missing tooth from trauma can range from $1000 - $5000, it seems that a custom mouthguard would be a smart investment. Protect your smile!

At West End Orthodontics, we have our own laboratory built right into our practice. We make most of our appliances on site, which keeps the cost of your treatment down and helps our orthodontist and team ensure that your appliance and treatment are high-quality. We excel in using removable appliances to address small alignment issues at an early age so that you can avoid paying for braces twice. To learn more about our specialty orthodontic appliances in Glen Allen, Virginia, and make your appointment with Dr. Frank Iuorno, please call us today at 804-364-8366.

Based on your specific orthodontic needs, our orthodontist may recommend a removable orthodontic appliance. There are several types of removable appliances available. Depending on your Individual needs and goals, we may suggest one or more of the following:

  • Clear aligner

Clear aligners are a discreet alternative to traditional braces. These aligners are custom made to fit over your teeth and gently move your teeth to their correct positions. Because they are made of clear, smooth plastic, they are both comfortable and virtually invisible.

  • Retainer

Retainers are used to maintain your straight, beautiful smile after orthodontic treatment. There are several types of retainers available, and our team will help you determine which type is best suited to your needs.

  • Mouth guard

These can be used to protect your smile from injury and damage. We often recommend protective mouth guards for patients who participate in sports and other athletic activities.

  • Headgear

Headgear is most often used to restrict the growth of the upper jaw and improve an overbite (overjet).

  • Night Guard

You may need a night guard if you grind or clench your teeth as you sleep. The night guard creates a barrier between the teeth to protect them.

  • Palatal expander

A palatal expander is a device used to create more space in the mouth by gradually widening the upper jaw. They are used for children while their mouths and jaws are still developing.
